Medway Sure Start Children's Centres

Sure Start Children's Centres are places that provide information and services for families with young children aged from birth to five years in the local community and are great places to meet new people.

Home-Start Medway (01634) 570717

Home-Start Medway provides a unique service for familes, recruiting and training volunteers to support parents with young children at home. Currently we supervise and support over 65 volunteers, who help support over 120 families. Home-Start Medway opened in 1987, 14 years after the original Home-Start began in Leicester. Across the UK, there are over 250 Home-Start schemes. Home-Start Medway is an independent charity which adopts the Constitution and Standards and Methods of Practice of Home-Start UK. Home-Start Medway is based in Gillingham and covers the whole Medway area.

Strood Community Project was established in 2006 as an initiative of two neighbouring Parish churches in the town of Strood, Rochester, Kent (St Nicholas with St Mary and St Francis of Assisi). Joined by Strood Gospel Mission Church in 2008 we became a project uniting different church backgrounds. Now a registered charity our work is driven by our Christian values to meet the needs of everyone in our community. Our aims are to empower the local community and help improve fundamental issues such as education, safety, increased employment, life skills and lower crime. Strood Community Project provides a dynamic programme of training courses to Strood residents. Many of these courses are FREE OF CHARGE for those not in work or claiming means tested welfare benefits. If you are working you may still participate but charges will apply.
